Fukuoka is one of the seven prefectures of Kyushu region and the capital of Fukuoka Prefecture. It is a probable gateway to Kyushu Island and its many attractions. The present-day Fukuoka City used to be two separate cities – Hakata and Fukuoka. The cities eventually became the two wards, with Fukuoka being renamed ‘Tenjin’, making up the city center. Most of the attractions are found here. Hakata Station and Fukuoka Airport are found in Hakata, while budget hotels and shopping establishments are located in Tenjin. As with any other Japanese city, Fukuoka is safe for tourists and locals alike.

If you’re sightseeing within the city, three days would be enough to cover famous spots. If you’re on a food trip, you might want to extend your stay because it is impossible to try the popular food places in Fukuoka in just three days. If you want to go to neighboring cities like Kitakyushu, Yanagawa or Nagasaki, you might have to add a few days more.
